ECAD at PTC Live Global

We wrapped up another trip to PTC Live Global a few weeks ago. We have definitely seen an increase in the interest in managing ECAD data in WindChill. I think this is mainly due to WindChill becoming more mature. Designers and managers are getting used to the product handling their MCAD data, and now it’s time to think of the “complete package”. This includes both Software and ECAD, in addition to MCAD.

iRobot (LINK) had a great presentation on their experience with integrating ECAD into their environment. I presented a lower level description of what a user encounters in my “Windchill 10.2 ECAD” session (LINK).

A short reminder, I’ll be discussing an advanced topic, how to use hooks with the ECAD WGM, as a guest speaker on PTC’s Monthly ECAD webinar. Linda Mazatelli will host the session scheduled to occur Thursday, August 14. Sign up here.

What did you like or not @ PTC Live?

data vaulting

Move off antiquated file shares / Software Version control systems. Fast and simple storage is step 1.

Data Collaboration

Visualization / Markup & Compare tools form the basis of feedback from the entire organization to the design teams.

Change Tracking

Leverage existing or new workflows that are tracked, monitored, and captured in the PLM system.

ECAD/MCAD Collaboration

Leverage newly developed STEP formats to enable simpler design and communication between disciplines.
